AUTHOR INTERVIEW - ASH KRAFTON

Niina : Welcome to For The Love of Reading, Ms. Krafton,  I’m glad you could make it!

Ash Krafton : Wouldn’t miss it for the world, Niina. I’ve loved your blog since the first moment I saw it!

Niina : Yay! Thank you! Let’s get started! Can you tell my readers here 4 fun unknown facts about you so we can break the ice?

Ash : That’s tough—unknown facts? I’m pretty open so I don’t know if I have any secrets!

1) I love costumes—not overboard Halloween costumes but dramatic clothing. Military coats, corsets, heels, outrageous long hair. My long-time friend Kelly once told me that, before we were introduced, she liked watching me when I came into work because at the time I wore a black overcoat. I’d come sweeping into the store in a swirl of coat and long blonde hair that fascinated her. It’s funny but I still love that drama. I also love Kenzie’s wardrobe on “Lost Girl” and I really connect to her love for costume wear.

2) I’m a cat person who owns a dog. I feel like I’ve betrayed myself by loving the enemy.

3) I’ll never be a farmer because I can’t grow a damn thing. Once I had an amazing tomato plant in a planter but our swimming book ruptured and the pot got carried away in the flood. I was devastated and I’ve had a black thumb ever since.

4) I’m dying to go to a hypnotist who specializes in past life exploration. I’m convinced I must have a recycled soul inside me.

Niina : I share #4! Now, tell us something about your book, Bleeding Hearts, that we wouldn’t know by reading the blurb?

Ash : It goes deeper than boy meets girl, boy gets pushed closer to becoming vampire, boy tries to eat girl. Bleeding Hearts describes the power a woman has when she’s determined to save her lover from himself. He believes he’s too far gone to be redeemed. She’ll stop at nothing to prove he’s wrong. That’s the core of the story—redemption.

Niina : How did Sophie and Marek come to life?

Ash : It all started with a vague dream when I woke up with the tagline in my head—“saving the world—one DAMNED person at a time”.  I also had Marek’s name and I have no idea where it came from. Weird thing is, I’d already been working with an agent when I met someone whose last name is Marek. I almost lost it—and so did he when I told him he might be a demivamp. Poor guy. He was so confused.

The story originally started as a vamp who hunts a woman but the woman turns the hunt back on him—she’d try to change his ways. But sometimes stories have a mind of their own and, since I let my characters be true to themselves, they told their own story.

Niina : What was the best part about creating the demi-vampire world?

Ash : Definitely the research. The origin of the vamps lies within the realm of the Egyptian gods. I got to visit a load of museums and buy stacks of books to fill in the details of the demivamp/Were storylines.

Didn’t hurt that I got to build my heroes from the ground up. Why should I be the only girl lucky enough to daydream about these guys?

Niina : I love Egyptian gods and goddesses, seriously, part of why I loved Marek and Sophie's first/second meeting! ;) What character did you most enjoyed writing and why?

Ash : Ooh, tough question. I’d have to say Father Jared. He was a challenge because of his vocation as a Catholic priest—who’d been Sophie’s boyfriend when they were teenagers. As a Catholic, I wanted no tarnish on a priest. I’d been raised to respect them and to pray and support them if they stumbled. Writing his character meant I had to acknowledge the pure love he and Sophie still felt, the love that transcends the physical, because even though he’s celibate he still cares for her very deeply. Sophie also knows he’s hands-off but she remembers their past.

He’s my favorite because, although he was a tough bugger to write, he has a warmth and a strength to be admired. He also looks great in a t-shirt. ( Hey, it happens. )

Niina : I have to ask, how come Sophie and Marek waited so long to hook up?

Ash : I know that drove you crazy. Me too—if I was Sophie I would have flung myself into his arms. They both had to take it slow or it wouldn’t have been genuine. Sophie is love shy and cautious...and Marek respects that, even though he pretty much tells her right from the beginning he’d have her. He’s a gentleman—but he also knows there is something about her that isn’t average everyday human. I think that’s why he doesn’t go all alpha male and ravage her.

Niina : LOL! It did drive me bit nuts. ;) What are you working on right now? Can you give us a sneak peak?

Ash : The sequel, BLOOD RUSH. I’ll be finishing it in May and sending it to the editor in early June. BLOOD RUSH  tells a few stories—it focuses on Rodrian and Shiloh, a Were that won’t leave Sophie alone, and a visit from another Sophia. Here’s a sneak peak from the draft:

            I arrived at the Tenth Street offices ten minutes early.
            Not that I was in any particular hurry. It had been almost a year and a half since I'd ridden this elevator or stood in this reception area or looked at the broad door that led to the interior of Rodrian's office. Fifteen months was a long time--time enough to change wall art and hire new receptionists and make strangers out of two people who had once been as close as family.
            I arrived ten minutes early only because I was nervous. I walked quickly when I was nervous.
            At the receptionist's polite nod I took a seat near the windows. The sparse waiting area had not been designed for comfort. People waiting to see Rodrian Thurzo needed no distractions or trivial ways to pass time. I longed for a stack of well-worn magazines, something to occupy my hands and my mind.
Instead, I curled my hands together in a quiet semblance of patience and dreaded the moment the door would open. I never had to sit out here before, waiting to be granted an audience.
            My composure slipped and I squirmed. Technically I didn't ask for an audience with Rodrian. I'd been summoned.
            Bossy jerk that he was, Rodrian probably wouldn't have thought twice about commanding me but he didn't. His letter had been politely written, a carefully worded request.
            However, the moment my skin touched the paper I triggered the compulsion he'd placed upon it. Mental actions spoke louder than words. Request or not, I really had no choice. He had ladened it with emotion and was clever enough to use the one particular emotion I couldn't ignore.
            Need.

Niina : Awesome, I always liked Rodrian! What’s the best compliment you’ve received on your writing? And who complimented you?

Ash : When I accepted a contract from my publisher, Pink Narcissus Press ( www.pinknarc.com ) I felt an instant connection to the editors. Editor-In-Chief Rose Mambert told me that one of her editors ( who became my personal editor and the Champion of My Book ) cried when she read my book. I treasure tears of every kind—I treasure the pain and the joy and the desperation that summon them and I treasure the people brave enough to shed them. That a stranger shed tears reading my book was and still is the greatest compliment I could every receive because it means she connected with my characters enough to feel for them.

Several people have said wonderful things about my book and I am sincerely grateful for every word and every smile. It kind of blows my mind a little.

Niina : Now to more personal questions! What’s the sexiest article of clothing on a guy?

Ash : Denim jeans, worn and broken and perfectly fit to the body. I’m not into low-cut waists so the Dream Jeans would be Levi’s 501 button-fly. A little roughed up, a little fringe, and snugly contoured.

Niina : Not easy to look bad in jeans ( though some manage ;) ) What’s the biggest turn on in a guy, fictional or real life?

Ash : His voice. The audio center of my brain must be hyperactive because I love sounds—music, rhythms, voices. I love the sound and texture of a sexy voice and I love sexy word play. Even in the dark when he’s not touching you, his voice can reach you. You can’t see him, you can’t feel him, but you can still hear him...

Niina : Agreed! Would you rather meet real vampires or werewolves?

Ash : Werewolves. Definitely. Vampires are scary. Werewolves, however, can still be regular humans as long as the moon isn’t around. Dark Shadows ( the movie ) seems to make fun of vampires. Even if every vampire looked like Johnny Depp, I still don’t want to meet one.

I like tigers, too, but I don’t want to sleep with one. Scary things belong in books and cages, not in my bed. =)

Niina : What is your favorite guilty pleasure?

Ash : Watching Bollywood movies. There is a modest sensibility to the films and I have yet to see a passionate kiss on the mouth—but there is suspense, a building of passion. Watch Jodhaa Akbar—the emperor is the sexiest man I’d ever seen in a Bollywood movie and the romantic suspense is soooo intense. Plus, I love the songs and the dancing and the clothing. Bollywood is definitely my guilty pleasure—I should be getting work done around the house and instead I’m glued to the screen, singing in Hindi along with the film.

My mother is Polish American and her daughter sings in Hindi. How weird is that? ( You should see me in a sari. I rock those things. )

Seriously. Bollywood is hot.

Niina : LOL! I should get one! ;) Before we finish, here are some Quick Fire Questions:

Night or day?  Night. I’m a star-gazer and a shadow-watcher. Love, love, love the night.
Pick-up or Mini-van? I’m a pick-up truck gal, through and through.
Boots or Heels?  Tough call—but boots. I collect wicked boots and name each pair. You should see my Van Helsings.

Beer or Wine? Wine—I like it sweet, though. I try to like the drier varieties but they are just too yucky for me.
Cocktails or Shots? Cocktails. I get drunk quickly so I like to linger over my drinks.
M&Ms: With or Without Peanuts?  Without. I don’t want to confuse my taste buds. I have so problem with the pretzel ones, though.
Treats: Sweet or Salty? Sweet!
Date: Going to Park or Going to Movies? Movie. It’s been almost twenty years since I was on a date and going to park went out the window when the car seats got installed. A real mood killer.
Winter or Summer? Summer. I have a huge crush on the Green Man and the winter means he’s asleep.
Jewels or Chocolates? You are KILLING ME. Jewels, because I can visit them and wear them and keep them forever. I love shiny things.
Men: Alpha-male or Submissive? Alpha. They keep my bossy streak in check. I’m pushy and I need a guy who pushes back.
Men: Clean Shaven or Stubble? Stubble. I like the rough look.
Men: Bad boys or Good guys? Good guys because they can do bad things if they have to without changing their essence of goodness.
Tattoos or Piercings on a guy? NO.
Brunettes or Blonds? Yikes. Brunettes, since I’m a strawberry blonde. I like contrast.
Romance: Vampires or werewolves? Vamps. Laurell K. Hamilton ruined me on crushing on a werewolf. Ugh. What a mess.
Romance: Fallen Angels or Sexy Demons? Ooh! Fallen Angels! Lucifer learned a tough lesson and it’s a great story to explore.
Romance: Cops or Cowboys? Cops. I’m an East Coast girl. Cops are the real heroes around here.
Time-Travel or Sci-fi? Time-travel—I love history and have crushes on several historical figures. ( I heart George Washington. He was a real manly man, the toughest a guy could be. )
Romance or Erotica/Erotic Romance?  Romance. I’m not a big reader of erotica because I love the build-up, the suspense, but the culmination leaves me feeling like there is nothing left to look forward to.
Male POV or Female POV (Point Of View)? I identify with the female POV more because I’ve read a few male POVs that didn’t feel genuine.
Times New Roman or Courier? TNR. Courier looks so hollow. It also reminds me of scary editors who like to reject my submissions.

CHARACTER INTERVIEW - MARK OF KANE

Here is LW Herdon with a great Character Interview with two characters from his new book The Mark Of Kane!

Thank you for hosting me today.

I’m here to interview two character volunteers from The Mark of Kane. I’d like to introduce, Anne Kidd and Naberius, though Naberius seems to be late showing up for the interview.

LW: “Anne, do you want to go ahead and tell the readers about yourself?”

Anne walked beside me as we made our way through the UCLA reference library. “Can I ask first why we have to meet in the Special Collections section?”

“Naberius insisted that we meet here or he wouldn’t join us,” I said, looking over my shoulder to find the source of the odd chill I had as we entered a small research room. “He said something about a text, The Last Days of the World. Or something like that.”

“Cheery.” She sat beside me and leaned closer to me across the table. “Given he’s a demon, wouldn’t we be better off if he didn’t show up?”

I hesitated a moment, trying to think up a good answer. To be honest, I’d paired these two together because they shared Kane’s attention. Naberius had dedicated several years to teaching Kane. Now Kane was investing the time to help Anne learn how to adapt to her powers in the supernatural world that had awakened around her. “For all Naberius’s power, I’ve found him to be very logical. And this was a small request. You could start while we’re waiting.”

“Can I leave if I’m done before he gets here?”

“Anne.”

“Fine. I’m an ICU nurse and very new to Los Angeles.”

“Don’t forget the part where you’re a fledgling sorcerer.” The deep comment ended in a hiss. A soft thud echoed as the door closed. Anne and I both turned. A man with salt and pepper hair and a closely trimmed goatee, dressed in a tweed sports coat, held an ornate ebony walking cane with silver lion’s head handle as he made his way toward us. His posture and smooth stride to the opposite side of the table earmarked him as not only fit, but not in need of the cane he leaned against a chair.

“I’m a wizard,” Anne snapped. “And I’m at least punctual.”

“Once you’ve lived more than ten thousand years, my dear Ms. Kidd, punctuality is relative.”

“I am not ‘your dear’ anything.”

A slight twitch at the corner of the goatee offered the only hint of his amusement. “Is that a challenge? I am an emotional succubus.”

Anne settled farther back in her chair uneasily. I shuffled through the few notes I’d brought. “Thank you for coming, Naberius.”

He sat down, ignoring me for a second as he flicked a piece of undetectable lint from his coat. “If I had not, you would have manufactured some details in my absence.” With a glance at me, he smirked. “One scribe to another, I would prefer to manage my own words.”

“Fair enough.” I tried to remember why I had thought these two would make such a good combination. For now, all I could remember was a fascination with the demon who had spent decades immersed in books, studying humanity and myth as a recluse.

LW: “Now that we have the pleasantries out of the way, how did each of you meet Kane?”

Anne twined her fingers in her lap and pressed her lips together with a look toward Naberius. “I was working in the Intensive Care Unit and Kane was waiting for an update on the condition of his…” I received a raised brow. “Brother. That’s how he referred to the boy.”

“But he wasn’t his brother.” As the author, I understood the boy Kane had admitted to the Emergency Room had a role to play in the story. It wasn’t one of sibling. That wouldn’t change whether Anne approved or not.

“No,” she added. “Though I’ll admit, he did everything he could to make certain the boy survived.”

“He made certain you survived as well.”

Her hands clenched for a moment. “Yes. I wouldn’t be here without his help. Only a few weeks have passed since I first met him and it seems like years. It’s the same with the others that he dropped into my life. Some days I’m not really sure he’s done me any favors.”

“Naberius?” I asked

“If you expect me to add some melodrama with heartstrings about the Kane child, you are in error.” He tapped a finger on the table toward Anne. “You would do well to heed Kane’s instruction. There are worse things than death. He’s fairly adept at skirting them.”

I ignored them both and tried to redirect the interview back to the point. “Kane is what, Naberius, twenty-eight? Even when he was found by your demon clan, he was hardly a child.”

“The entire planet of people today would fit here.” Naberius rolled his eyes and held his thumb and forefinger up a hair’s breadth apart. “You are not even a speck in a calculation so small. When Kane crawled to our home and clumsily fell into my quarters, he still did not register on the timeline of man. He is less than a child. But I grant him an elevated status because he is a work-in-progress, even the half-human he is.”

“You mean the tool you have honed with knowledge and skills so you can use him?” I prodded.

He waved his hand and glanced away. “The same.”

LW: “So you both have a need for his services?”

Anne glared at Naberius and nodded.

Naberius laughed, the sound was void of mirth and drenched in sarcasm. “The child has skills. Many yet to be tested, but he is my Artful Dodger, my Houdini of illusion, the one who walks between worlds. There is value in such a being.”

LW: Whoa, that sounded a little too much like it was headed for Kane’s adventures in the next book, Hallowed Vengeance. Perhaps time to wrap up this happy reunion. “Any final thoughts on Kane’s future?”

Anne took a deep breath, squared her shoulders, and sat a little taller in her seat. The challenge to the man/demon across the table was obvious. “I’ve already made my choice to help him. While I have no idea where this will all end, I have no regrets. I know he won’t leave those of us he cares for in the lurch. I guess that’s more than I can count on from anyone else.”

With an exaggerated stretch of his neck, Naberius let out an audible sigh. “Human emotion is so wasted.”

“At least we have feelings. Don’t you have any, somewhere very, very deep down?” Arms folded across her chest, Anne raised her chin.

“You don’t even bother to skirt temptation, do you Wizardess? You walk across the line without a care or caution. Consider well the buttons you push.” Naberius stood, his chair screeching backward as he grasped his cane in the middle. He moved to leave by the door at the end of the room, and then as if by a sudden reconsideration, he turned back.

The salt & pepper hair of his human personae were gone. Tight brown tissue replaced skin and muscle on his skull. An elaborate weave of external bones capped his head instead of hair. He hung before us in mid-air. Robes of deepest purple draped his frame, the sleeves ending at the blue-sheened claws wrapped around the cane. Crystal green eyes, oddly framed by long, dark lashes glowed with the truest depiction of mirth I’d witnessed since he’d arrived. Only the goatee remained from his alter ego.

“Beware writer. I have secrets you can’t even imagine. My use of Thaddeus Kane is far from finished. His journey and that of our clan, is not written in stone. And for you, Ms. Kidd.” He drifted closer to her.

To her credit, she didn’t make a sound thought her eyes were wide and her pupils huge. “As a woman descended from the powerful line of Solomon, be more careful who you tempt.”

With one graceful swirl in the air, he was gone.

Anne stood up, gave one long glance around the room, and then gestured to me with her purse. “No more interviews with him. Promise?”

I nodded, but it wasn’t as if I could control the demon. If he decided to make his way onto the page again, who was I to stop him?

"My name is Thaddeus Kane. I exist in Los Angeles, the city known for the hustle of Hollywood, an average 266 days a year of sunshine, and smog.

Plus-size Amy Somers has been through a rough break up, her boyfriend left her for a slimmer girl, not good for the self-esteem. But she's decided to forget about Tim and spend the weekend in New Orleans with her friend. But keeping Amy proves far more difficult, and eventually he has to prove her that he finds her sexy and lovable that in it's self isn't an easy task.

            Damn. Seb propped his shoulder against the door frame to keep from falling to his knees at the sight of the woman lying half-naked on his bed. Was he drooling? Faced with a sight as delectable as her, he didn't know how his jaw wasn't lying on the floor.


            If only she’d been conscious.


            His hands tingled with the urge to strip off the rest of her clothes. After the dry spell he’d been having, he would have considered himself delusional to be handed such a feast. That is, if Monique hadn’t warned him that she’d sent her friend Amy over. Seb needed no help charming women, but with a beauty like the one sprawled out before him, how could he turn her away?


            This woman had been crafted to fulfill his every fantasy. She lay, oblivious to his presence. Her blue baby doll clung to her large breasts, revealing miles of unconquered terrain. Her auburn hair draped over her chin and part of her plump mouth. One hand was tucked beneath her cheek; the other rested between her lush bare thighs. With her legs curled, he couldn’t tell how tall she would be, but one thing he was certain: before him lay a woman who he wouldn't have to worry about crushing with his six-foot-tall frame. And one he shortly hoped to know very well.


            One question held him rooted in place while his hormones urged him to join her. Why would a goddess like her be lying half-dressed on his bed?

I loved this novella, quick, easy romantic read! I love stories with plus-size heroines, enough with the fit to teeth kinda girls, I wan't heroines with more than skin on their bones. Plus-size girls are just as daring, fun, witty and sexy as the fit and slim size 4 ( will not say manufacturally adored size 0 here ).

Beauty In His Bed shows that beauty comes in all sizes and shapes and when it's about romance it's damn sexy!


L.K. Below deserves a patch of honor for bringing out a curvy heroine, and a man who adores those aforementioned curves. Just read the little excerpt above... delish, right!?

Sebastien was so sexy, I loved the New Orleans accent, yum yum yum! Also his adoration and lust for Amy was hot to read! And even hotter was seeing his protectiveness over her and his loyalty, even when a hot girl tried to get his attention. Be still my heart!

Amy, well as stated above was funny, witty and bit insecure with her weight ( being with Tim, who didn't love her had left a mark ) and seeing her battle with wither Sebastien really wanted her or not was entertaining and bit heartbreaking to read.

I didn't want to let Amy and Seb go! I could have read so much more... hence...

Taking A Leap - After having spent a long time admiring the gorgeous Alyssa at work, Brad a geek and a nice guy sees her break up with her boyfriend and when Brad agrees to ghost write a sex scene due to a desperate client's request Alyssa teams up with him and maybe he's been given a chance.

Light My Fire - Romance novel publisher Amy agrees to cat-sit for her lesbian friend, not expecting a hot fireman like Troy to make acquaintances. Second Time Around - Setting up newly divorced Maddie and near divorced Antonio seemed like a good idea by their friends but it seems they both have plenty of package to slug around. Things heat up and neither one can fight the attraction too long, not willing to give in they both battle to figure out if it's too soon and if there are such things as second chances in love.

Taking A Leap was such a funny, light romantic comedy - but with such a yummy sexy side! I loved Brad and Alyssa, such a cute might-be/might-be-not couple with serious chemistry. I loved the ending especially as they meet Alyssa's ex, loved it! ;) I liked Brad's sexy side even being a geek the guy was pretty well built and Alyssa's high maintenance appearance, but books really shouldn't be judged by the cover and there is so much more to her than a pretty face. Taking A Leap was a great start for the three novella collection!

Light My Fire was hilarious! From flamboyant gay men in gay clubs to alpha male firemen this story was funny, witty and romantic with a little bit heartbreak. Troy confusing Amy for a lesbian and beginning to develop feeling for her was fun to read and Amy was so clueless of the fact it was priceless. Many laugh out loud moments, lots of romance and anticipation! Yummy!

Second Time Around was more mature, somber novella in the collection. More sad and not quite so fun and playful. Second chances usually are about exes getting together again - but in Second Time Around two people burned by love battle wither it's safe to take that dive again.

I loved how all these stories tied together with Maria the lesbian romance novel author with computer problems, in need of a cat-sitter, throwing engagement parties. I liked the red line tying all the novellas together to get a coherent collection of romance!

Cat Johnson writes great romance! The characters are fun, sexy and believable ( which is more than crucial! )! If you haven't read Johnson's contemporary romance yet this is great place to start! I've been in love with her cowboy romance since Unridden, but I have new found love for her contemporary line!

AUTHOR INTERVIEW - JADE BUCHANAN

Niina : Welcome to For The Love of Reading, Jade Buchanan, I’m glad you could make it!

Jade Buchanan : Thanks! I'm glad to be here! I'm in the middle of a WIP, so I'm being naughty and taking a teeny break. Thanks for the excuse!

Niina : LOL! You’re welcome. ;) Let’s get started! Can you tell my readers here 4 fun unknown facts about you so we can break the ice?

Jade : Uh oh... I'm a bit of an open book, so I'm not sure if these are completely unknown facts, but they're certainly fun for me.

First, I play with dolls :) I have a set of about two dozen GI Joes, Barbies and Ken dolls that I use to mock up sex scenes and generally get into trouble with. I tend to take pictures of them in naughty poses for blog posts and my website :)

Second, I have a near uncontrollable jewelry collection. I feel like you can't accessorize enough, and that brings me to number three...

I make my own jewelry. It started just as a fun hobby, but I do get the odd request from friends and family to make them necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and all sorts of baubles.

Hmm... Number four? I have a horrible quirky sense of humor. The oddest things make me laugh.

Niina : Tell us little about your romances, what are they about, what’s the common nominator?

Jade : I write erotic romance that features all sorts of pairings. I'm a firm believer that love and romance are universal concepts, no matter a person's gender identify or sexual orientation, so I tend to write about a lot of GLBT characters. I think the common thread in a lot of my stories is the importance of family and friendship, although I've also been told that I tend to write quirky, oddball characters who get into steamy, melt-your-brain sexual situations. I'm okay with that ;)

Niina : How do you write, chapter here and there or follow from beginning to an end?

Jade : I'm a quilter when I write. I write scenes, and then stitch them together at the end. I think it's my short attention span, but I just can't seem to write straight through from the beginning to end!

Niina : What is the biggest “no-no” when it comes to writing for you?

Jade : I don't know that I necessarily have a "no-no". I try to keep an open mind and write what the characters need, even if it's something that personally bothers me. Although, that being said, I can't stand infidelity in a romance book, so that might be the only firm no-no I have.

Niina : That would be a good no-no! Any big projects for 2012?

Jade : My current WIP is scheduled for a 2012 release, and I'm pretty excited about it. It's the second in my Broken Rules trilogy, set in Northern Ontario, and features a male nurse and his closeted, too-scared-to-come-out lover. After that I'll be working on another story in my Wolf Creek series, about a werewolf and a little hedgehog shapeshifter he falls for. I wasn't joking about the quirky sense of humor LOL! I have a few more projects that are lining up in my brain, but I'm not sure what will come first :)

Niina : Hedgehog shifter that sounds adorable! :) What makes you feel like you’re reading or have read a truly amazing book?

Jade : I've read a number of books that I just couldn't put down, and that's a good indicator of an amazing book for me. It doesn't necessarily have to be a certain genre, or a particular author, but if I stay up the entire night, or start to get annoyed when I have to take breaks to eat, etc. then I know it's a good one. My reading tastes are so eclectic that I tend to bounce around between different romance subgenres, fantasy, horror, mystery, sci-fi, urban fantasy... I think I've found a truly amazing book in each of those genres.

Niina : What makes a story sexy?

Jade : There's something about emotional foreplay that gets my engines revving when I'm reading! It's all mental for me, I want to know what the characters are feeling when they're experiencing something sexy.

Niina : What’s the best advice for writers you have received?

Jade : Write! It sounds simple, but it's something that I do have trouble with occasionally. Some days you're tired, or you're just not feeling it, but it's always easier to fix a bad page than a blank page.

Niina : That’s true! Flirting with the idea of bringing a new mythological/paranormal creature to page, what would be exciting to write about?

Jade : I tend to write about all sorts of creatures that seem like they wouldn't work, especially with shapeshifters. I've written a frog shapeshifter (who happened to be the dominant partner LOL ), duck shapeshifter, and one of my future releases has a squirrel shifter! They're exciting for me, because you get to play with people's expectations and give them something unexpected. Plus, there are so many werewolf or vampire romances out there. I want something different. I also think it would be exciting to write about some of the mythological beasts that show up in Greek myths. The minotaur, lamia, medusa. How fun would it be to take something like that and make it both erotic and quirky? Maybe it's just me LOL!

Niina : LOL! I’d read that! ;) What’s the sexiest article of clothing on a guy?

Jade : Boxer-briefs. I'm a sucker for them.

Niina : Not bad. ;) What is your favorite guilty pleasure?

Jade : My dolls! I'm serious when I say that I spend a lot of time collecting both the dolls and their accessories. I love the ball-jointed dolls because when you're mocking up a sex scene to see if it's possible/realistic you can move every joint individually. I spent more than I'd care to admit buying a number of dolls, including a Tom of Finland doll and an original Gay Bob doll from the 1970s. Heck, I've even been known to make teeny tiny butt plugs and dildoes for them :)

Niina : LOL! Your Top 3 dangerous fictional bad boys, and why them?

Jade : Oh, that's a tough one. I loved Spike in Buffy, he was such a great, snarky, but redeemed character. Even when he was a good guy, he still had an edge to him that I loved. I'm a sucker for Eric in the Sookie Stackhouse world that Charlaine Harris created. Both the literary version and the TV version played by Alexander Skarsgard. My final one isn't really a bad boy like the others, but it would have to be Brodick Buchanan from Julie Garwood's Ransom. He's simply my favourite fictional man. A Laird who is sarcastic, dominant, protective, and gentle? Love it.
