FARSIGHTED BLACK FRIDAY BLITZ EXCERPT AND GUEST BLOG: "DEAR JACOB BLACK"

I'd like to share an excerpt from Emlyn Chand's hot new paranormal novel, Farsighted (it just released on 10/24). Before diving in, check out this teaser for the book:

"Alex Kosmitoras may be blind, but he can still “see” things others can’t. When his unwanted visions of the future begin to suggest that the girl he likes could be in danger, he has no choice but to take on destiny and demand it reconsider."

If you want to read my 4.5 Star Review of Farsighted, it's HERE. And Interview with the author Emlyn Chand can be found HERE.

Okay, now that you're caught up, on to the excerpt! I hope you'll enjoy it.

 Almost Kiss
excerpt from Farsighted, chapter 7

Simmi and I arrive at this rally point together from Mrs. Warszynski’s to wait for Shapri. Several minutes go by. I want to suggest we leave without her but don’t think that’ll score me any points with Simmi.

“You didn’t want Shapri to come tonight, did you?” Simmi asks.

“Well, I—no, I mean, it’s fine. I’m glad she could come,” I sputter.

“You’re such a horrible liar,” Simmi teases, pushing me playfully.

“Hey, that’s not fair. I can’t hit you back. You’re a girl.”

“I’m just teasing you.” Simmi blows a raspberry and pulls her body up onto the circular wall surrounding the flagpole area. I hesitate before pulling myself up too. Simmi scootches over so we touch at the hip. She loops her hand through the crook of my arm and places her head on my shoulder. “I never would have gotten away with this in India,” she says. “But I’m glad I can here. I’m a psychic feeler. I need to be in touch with others.” She pauses and strokes my arm with her free hand. “You know, when I touch someone I can make them feel what I want them to, but I can also sense their existing emotions. It’s almost the same as being able to read minds. Everything important has to do with the heart, not logic.” She lightens her tone. “But don’t tell Dr. Brown I said that, he’d take marks off of my next chem exam out of spite.”

I laugh nervously. Is she like Miss Teak in a way? Can she read my feelings for her? If she can, why hasn’t she said anything? I contemplate reaching over and kissing her, so I can know for sure how she feels. But I’ve never kissed anyone before. I’m not sure how I’m supposed to initiate it. Do I take her out for dinner and a movie first? Or make some lengthy speech declaring my intentions? Do I kiss her, just like that? Or do I ask for her permission before making my big move?

I decide to ask if it’s okay. Simmi is a classy girl. She needs respect. I swallow, hoping the motion will open up my airway, because right now, I’m kind of having trouble catching my breath. “Simmi,” I start.

“Yeah, Alex?” She lifts her head and links her hand in mine, nudging her slender fingers in between each of mine.

“Would it be okay if I…”

“There you two are!” Shapri says, running over to us, panting heavily. “I thought we were meeting in the commons.”

“No, we agreed on the flagpole,” Simmi says, hopping down from the wall.

The moment is gone. I don’t know when I’ll get the chance and the nerve again. My opinion of Shapri transforms from cautious indifference into outright hatred. Why did she invite herself along?

Shapri clears her throat. “Did I—Did I interrupt something here? Maybe a little romance?”

“What? No, no,” Simmi says shaking her head adamantly. “Nothing like that, Alex is like a brother to me.”

Ouch. Pain. Stabbed in my heart. I’m like a brother to her? I guess this means romance is off the table…

A guest post by Emlyn Chand
author of Farsighted

Fan Art by NiinaC
Dear Jacob Black,

Hi. How are you doing? Me? Not so good. You see, I have a bone to pick with you (tacky pun intended).

Okay, first of all, why on God’s green Earth did you ever fall for Bella? I mean, really. Even the most fanatic of Twi-fans can’t understand what you see in her. You are so much better than Bella Swan-Cullen (insert gagging noises here).

No, don’t get down on yourself, you are!

Look at you; you’re a hulking stack of gorgeousness both on paper and on-screen. You’re also really sweet and funny and strong and... swoon... Did I tell you that my husband is Indian—mind you, he’s not the same kind of Indian as you, but yeah, I appreciate that look (wink, wink, Jakey boy).

Back to my point... I don’t think I ever would have finished the entire Saga if it hadn’t been for you. You are just the kind of guy I would love to be friends with. You made Twilight so, so interesting. And that scene at the end of Eclipse when you told Edward that Bella loves you too? I almost died. I mean, that was one of the best scenes in modern fiction. Seriously, Jacob, it was, and that was because of you!

It’s cool how you were always there for Bella, no matter what the consequences—not that she deserved your unwavering loyalty. It is also cool how you not only ride motorcycles, but you also fix them. You’re a man’s man and a ladies’ man, Jacob Black.

But do you wanna know what’s not cool? It’s so not cool how you fell in love with baby Renesme.

So. Not. Cool!

I understand that there was some kind of cosmic imprinting thing going on, but yuck! I mean, she’s a baby, and she’s not even interesting anyway. I personally think your saga would have ended much better if there had never ever been a Renesme. She shouldn’t’ve existed not only from the freak of nature standpoint (cus let’s face it, you’re a freak of nature too, and I like you a whole lot), but from a literary standpoint. I don’t feel like she contributed to the plot at all. It was kind of a mess.

But what do you know about that? Did I just rock your world by revealing that your whole existence takes place within the pages of a book? I am so sorry. I didn’t mean to reveal this secret. Darn it! I have to be more careful.

But now that you do know and hopefully you’ve recovered from the shock a bit, I have to say this: the imprinting business with Renesme, that’s not really the universe playing games with you. It’s Stephenie Meyer. Oh, in case you didn’t know, Stephenie Meyer is the name of your God. She created you.

Anyway, I believe she had you imprint on Renesme for two reasons:

1. She didn’t want you to be alone after Bella rejected you but also decided to keep you hanging around on a tight leash (another bad pun, sorry) – but this bit shows that your God does love you – yay!

2. She was sick of people saying that 100ish-year-old Edward diggin’ on 18-year-old Bella was disgusting. She wanted them to be like Romeo and Juliet, so innocent, so fated. So what does she do? She takes the heat off of them by giving you an even more disgusting love affair. Gee, thanks, Steph.

I personally think you should be with Leah Clearwater. Maybe if the two of you both gouge out your eyes all Oedipus Rex-style, that horrific imprint will go away, and you can just be together.

I also think there’s a chance you could find happiness with Shapri Teak—she lives inside of my book, Farsighted. I’d be more than happy to introduce you...

So...

In summary, while Ms. Meyer clearly loved you, she loved Edward more.

Just like Bella. Ha, burn!

I come from a place of kindness. Eternally yours,

PS Edward sucks! Team Jacob!

PPS Do you know a guy named Sirius Black? If so, are you related to him? You have more in common than just your last name---aaaaawoooo!

RED WINTER GIVEAWAY!

Giveaway - Open unti November 29th, 2011 - International E-book novella from Smashwords!

You might recall my review on Red Winter and an interview with it's author Clark Hays in the beginning of November? If not, here is a little reminded...
1890. LonePine is a small town closing in for the winter… Sheriff Hardiman is taken to see the body of miner, the savage death with no clue of who could have done it. It doesn’t take long before a whore is found dead in her bed and Hardiman focuses his attention to the new man in town, Mr. Whisper, a man who doesn’t fit in. But there is more to Whisper than death, something no one ever saw coming.

This story was the first horror I’ve read in a long time and I now recall why I use to like reading a lot of them. Red Winter starts eerily and continues all the way to end with the reader engaged and wondering what will happen and fearing what creeps out of the shadows.❞
And an excerpt from the Interview...
Niina : Would you rather meet real vampires or werewolves?

Clark : I’d say probably werewolves, but only because I like to play the odds. There’s very little chance of surviving a meeting with the Vampire in Red Winter, Jericho Whistler, or the Vampires in The Cowboy and the Vampire, unless you are very tough, resourceful and handy with a gun like Sheriff Early Hardiman. With a werewolf, I might at least have a fighting chance; plus I’ve always been pretty good with dogs.

DIRTY LITTLE SECRET - VAMPIRE KILLING WEAPON OF CHOICE

Dirty Little Secret is a weekly meme hosted by us at Under the Covers.
Every Thursday we get to know other bloggers and our readers more intimately by asking them a question hoping to reveal their dirty little secrets.
We hope that you will all join us!

This weeks question:

"You are a kick ass chick, ready to face the night
and kill some nasty vampires.
You have your leathers on, your sidekick is ready...
What is your weapon of choice?"

That's easy, firstly a Samurai Sword! After all there is to be some beheading right? What's a better choice than a samurai sword! Now I'm reading "The Cowboy and The Vampire" and I'm gonna steal a really good idea from there from a crazy small town militia man, which are thermite grenades. They explode and rain supstance 3 times hotter than molten lava down on the vamps, can you say easy ignition?
I have "The Cowboy and The Vampire Weekend" coming up on Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th of December, if you like vampires, or cowboys, stop by!

Great question this week! I'm gonna go get my leathers on and go find my sidekick! I have high sidekick standards though, must be cute, geeky, super smart and speak multiple languages. ;)

What would be the weapon of you choice?

EXCERPT - PERFECT STRANGERS

Perfect Strangers
by Gem Sivad

Synopsis:

Lucy and Ambrose Quince share fiery passion in and out of bed; they love hard but fight often, both having opinions and tempers. But Lucy mysteriously disappears in 1874, leaving the Double-Q ranch and all she loves behind. Three years later, scarred in mind and body, Lucy is drawn back to Eclipse and the life she’s forgotten - including a snarling, lustful husband.

Although she claims she can’t remember him, Ambrose hasn’t forgotten a damned thing. Lucy left him and he owes her nothing. Trouble is - his heart remembers too, and Lucy’s the only woman who’ll ever own it.

Perfect Strangers is being released November 23rd, that's today people, don't miss out!

The devil got in her way again. Lucy had to see Ambrose before she left on her first investigation since he was between her and her horse. When she entered the barn, he straightened from his half-crouch over the feed sack he was wrestling and pushed his hat off his forehead, waiting for her to declare her purpose.

Avoiding his gaze, she announced to the air above his shoulder, “I’m going to town.”

He was sweating, covered with straw chaff and he didn’t look happy at the interruption. They had maintained an uneasy truce since the night she’d cleaned his office and laid him flat with her knee. She’d like to believe Ambrose had learned respect but it was more probable he was plotting another siege.

Alex jumped from the hayloft and dusted himself off. “Water…” He nodded toward the house and skirted them both, clearly unwilling to witness the imminent explosion.

Ambrose said to Alex, “Take a break.” To Lucy he said, “You aren’t going anywhere.” He pronounced judgment as though he was the Almighty.

Anger whooshed through her like fire through dry leaves.

She stepped around him, heading for Sheba’s stall. “I came to Eclipse to find answers, not dally with my former husband,” she told him.

“Former husband, my ass,” he snarled. Charging her, he hooked his arm around her middle, carrying her into the tack room.

Rage blistered the air—both his and hers.  For more than two weeks, they’d been circling each other like street brawlers, each looking for an opening.

In the dim light, Lucy wasn’t nearly as confident of her rights as she had been a moment before in the daylight. Ambrose surrounded her, backing her against the wall, blanketing her body with his. Quincy. The name floated through her mind as his mouth claimed hers, stifling any response other than surrender.

Releasing her lips, he growled at her like a crazed animal, “You’ll stay put, here, and go nowhere without me or mine.” His hands cupped her breasts as if he could make her obey by squeezing them.

But it wasn’t painful. Even as she mustered outrage, Lucy’s body melted under the convulsive stroking and kneading of his hands. He stood too close, and when she tried to push him away he crowded closer.

She should have been in a panic. Instead, desire coursed through her, dampening her feminine curls with wet heat. She fought the mesmerizing force of her own needs as he lifted her onto the flat surface of the saddle bench, pinning her arms to her sides, punctuating his orders with physical demonstrations of his power over her.

“You’re not leaving today, tomorrow, or the next fifty years without my say-so.” His words, little more than grunts, were interspersed between kisses delivered to her neck and mouth while his hands caressed and aroused her breasts.

His lips left a hot trail, making her shudder. When he captured her face between his big hands, holding her still for his plundering kisses, she repeated weakly, “Mr. Quince, I’m going to town. Get off me.”

“Like hell,” he growled.

She let him claim her mouth, thoroughly tasting his invasive tongue. When she retreated, nibbling on his lower lip as if it was something she’d done a hundred times before, he released her arms to cup her face in his hands. “Lucy… God, sweetheart, I’ve missed you.”

Lucy’s first line of defense, a reticule carrying her gun, lay useless on the barn floor. Giddy though she was, she inched her hand down to her thigh and lifted her skirt to access the blade she’d strapped there.

“Mr. Quince.” She tried to be polite, but her breathing was labored, and emotions she chose to label as anger bit into her as sharp as the knife she placed at his throat.
She couldn’t guess whether it was her manners or the blade getting his attention, but he stilled.

“I’m going to town. Get off me.”

He stared at her—frozen. And then his passion turned to fury and he dared her to kill him. Pressing his neck against her weapon, he marked himself, a line of red appearing on his skin, reinforcing his challenge. “Go ahead, cut my throat. I don’t think you’ve got the nerve.”

At the same time he held her gaze, he shoved his hand inside her drawers, stroking her belly and then trailing lower, riffling her nest of curls. Outraged, she lowered the knife and pushed at his shoulder, but he shrugged her off as his fingers teased the lips of her sex, running up and down the rim of her cleft before delving deeper to brush across her pearl.

The throbbing pleasure in her womb turned Lucy’s brain to mush and her traitorous thighs eased open, admitting her arousal. She breathed in the musky scent of his sweat and dropped the knife, arching into his touch.

“You’re hot for it,” the devil crowed, breaking the spell as he stared at her smugly.

“Mr. Quince, you’re wrong.” Holding his gaze, she fumbled the tin feed scoop into her hand and slammed him in the head.

Stunned, he stumbled back and watched as she picked up her useless knife to sheathe it in the leather casing she wore wrapped around her thigh.
“Mrs. Quince, when it comes to my wife, I’m never wrong.” He emphasized the word, reinforcing his claim evidently unwilling to let the last round be called hers.

THE LONELY DOMINANT REVIEW AND INTERVIEW

"Successful businessman Alec Carter realizes his life is less than fulfilled when he meets beautiful Clara Whittaker. Alec experiments in the BDSM lifestyle but doesn't consider himself hardcore until he crosses paths with the obviously submissive Clara."

Author: Ella Jade
Pages: 109 pages
Publisher: Noble Romance
Published: November, 2011
Form: E-book (provided as part of a tour for an honest review)
Genre: Erotic Romance/BDSM
Noble Romance: Buy / $5.50
Excerpt: Chapter 1

Alec is successful, handsome and he knows what he wants, and currently he’s set his eyes on the college student at his friends coffee shop. Clara, the young brunette fascinates him, her smile and her personality, so when he hears from his friend that she’s about to go homeless he offers her a room in his mansion. After she hesitates, thinking he’s buying her affections, she finally agrees to accept his offer of just a place to stay.

Before too long a kiss leads the two to a relationship, but as Alec comes out clean that he likes to do some light domination every once in a while, Clara is intrigue and let’s Alec guide him to the life style. But what happens when Alec wants perhaps more than just a bed mate, more than just a submissive for him to dominate?
❝I was so lost in her eyes I almost forgot what I was doing there in the first place. I glanced down and noticed she was ready for bed. She was wearing flannel pajama bottoms that hung dangerously low, off her hips, and a tight, light, gray tank top. And, from what I could see, she wasn't wearing a bra. There was nothing particularly sexy about the attire except maybe her nipples pushing against the thin material of the top, but she somehow made it look hot. She was perfect.
    "Hey." She smiled. "Long day?"
    "Can I come in?"
She nodded as she pushed the door open. I followed her into the room, but I couldn't wait any longer to touch her. I grabbed her by her waist and pulled her toward me. When I covered her mouth with mine, she quickly deepened the kiss as I ran my hands up the sides of her body.
"Did you miss me?" She traced her thumb across my bottom lip.
I like when she touches me.
"More than you can imagine." I walked us over to the bed. "Why aren't you in my room?"
She pushed the hair out of my eyes and smiled. "Was I supposed to be?"
"We don't have any rules during the week, but I'd rather hoped you'd be waiting for me when I got home." I tugged on her bottom lip with my teeth. "Unless you don't want to share my bed?"
I arched a brow at her, realizing she was well within her rights to deny me. I just hoped she wouldn't.
I didn’t know what to expect of this as I’ve never read a BDSM book before! So I was perhaps bit surprised that I liked it. The plot is simple,  but something we all work with, how to make a relationship work. Alec wants two things he wants Clara first, but he feels he can’t live without his Dominating side, so when Clara reveals she’s intrigued being submissive, Alec thinks his hid the jackpot but then how to have both as he’s only ever had one or the other. This people can relate to, love or passion? How to get both?

The story is told completely from Alec first person perspective, which I haven’t read before, an erotic story totally from the man’s point-of-view. It’s more blunt, to the point, and yes at times more crude, but hey men are all those things. The story lacks the female subtlety, the certain softness that only a woman’s voice brings to a story, but oddly enough with this… I didn’t miss it. I enjoyed seeing this solely from Alec’s point of view!

Alec is caring, loving, straight-forward and when he’s in his Dom role he constantly takes care of Clara making sure that everything that happens is okay with her, that she’s comfortable. Clara is young and unsure of herself, little timid, and like Alec puts it a natural submissive – but as she explores herself and her limits with Alec she gains confidence and strength. You want it to work for them, you want them to get both sides of their lives and live happily ever after.

Now to the sex, as this is erotica, wow – Alec certainly knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to go for it, he’s passionate lover and when he’s in his Dom role he’s sexy as hell. He wants to pleasure Clara like no one ever has and that makes the scene even steamier. Still not the raciest novel I’ve read, so if you’ve never read BDSM book, like me, this won’t scare you. But it sure will make you feel hot!

This book is for those who like their stories hot, their point-of-views male and their sex scenes nice and steamy!

Rating :

Ella Jade is the author of The Lonely Dominant and other exciting romances, For The Love of Reading had the pleasure to interview her this weekend! And now you get to read what went down, enjoy!

Niina : Welcome to “For The Love of Reading!” Ella, glad you could stop by!

Ella Jade : Thanks so much for having me!

Niina : So tell us five fun facts about yourself, so we can get to know you alittle!

Ella : I'm a SAHM to two active boys. I'm married to a wonderful man and we reside in NJ. When I'm not writing, I like to spend time with my family and kickbox. I'm also on the PTO.

Niina : Your book The Lonely Dominant is out now, how would you describe the book?

Ella : It's ultimately a romance with BDSM themes and elements to enhance the story.

Niina : What chapter did you most enjoyed writing and why?

Ella : I really enjoyed writing Clara's birthday. Its a sweet scene and something integral to the plot happens that night in the playroom.

Niina : I loved that chapter as well! Which character in your book became your favorite?

Ella : Alec... the story is told from his POV.  His voice spoke to me the loudest. I like where he ends up by the end of the book.

Niina : What about your lead character, Alec, makes you go, “oh don’t do that!”?

Ella : There were times when I thought he could express his feelings toward Clara a little more. I was like, "If you just tell her how you feel, it'll be easier!" lol! But I knew exactly when and where they'd express their true feelings. Getting there was a little frustrating.

Niina : Heh, I know what you mean. Now, how did you find your cover and if you didn't take part in the search, what is your opinion of it?

Ella : I didn't take part in finding it, but I absolutely loved the final product. I think the colors are beautiful and when I picture my two main characters, I see the couple on the cover.

Niina : I love it as well! So,why did you pick erotica as your genre?

Ella :  It just kind of happened. I always liked strong romances that didn't close the door on the reader. So, it just feels natural to me to share the intimate scenes.

Niina : What would you say is your most interesting writing quirk?

Ella : I usually save writing the steamy scenes for the end of the chapter. I like to set the pace and the dialogue first and then I go back and write the heat.

Niina : Now to more personal questions! Your current Top 5 dangerous bad boysin literature? (and why?)

Ella : Sadly, I'm writing so much that it's leaving little time to read. I do tend to go for the darker, more dominant hero. I like when they take control of a situation, but I also want them to love the heroine deeply.  If I had to pick one, I'd go with Eric Northman from the Southern Vampire Mysteries. He's sexy, ruthless and a vampire.

Niina : What about who is currently your book boyfriend?

Ella : Any of the Cullen vampires...Edward, Jasper or Carlisle. They're all so hot and sexy.

Niina : Ah, the Cullen boys, can't go wrong with them. I have a soft spot for Emmett. ;) Now, if you could only read 5 Romance/Erotica books for the rest of your life what would they be, and why?

Ella : Any of the Twilight series and any romance from Nora Roberts. I fell in love with the romance aspect of Twilight. And, Nora Roberts creates the most memorable characters. It would be hard for me to choose five, so I'd be happy with any of her love stories.

Niina : If we could ask Alec what is his favorite hobby, what would he answer?

Alec : Hmm, I'm becoming quite fond of playing in the new playroom with my beautiful Clara.

Niina : LOL! Yes, quite rightly so. Now, what's the best part about being an author? And what’s the worst?

Ella : I think it's all good. I love having a place to share my creativity. The worst part? My messy house. lol I'm always writing and never cleaning.

Niina : Now before we finish here are some Quick fire Question:

Cats or dogs?  cats

1850. Sam is the marshal of Dorado, and one of the Kane brothers, he’s in charge of keeping the peace. When the vault of his town is broken into and gold stolen he find only the redheaded vixen is his hands. While the others run away with the gold, some of the town people want the girl stringed up and hanged. Taking the girl, Scarlett, to the Kane family ranch for safe keeping until she can be judged doesn’t work the way Sam would like. Riding to the ranch with her awakes desires he thought he’d already gotten out of his system, but she’s different, not to mention beautiful, strong and curvy as hell.

Scarlett and her brothers are different, marked with unearthly abilities, so when Scarlett is captured the gloves come off and it bodes ill for the small town of Dorado. Scarlett and Sam butt heads but their attraction is undeniable, so what does Scarlett truly want? Her freedom, her brothers or perhaps something that only Sam, her warden, can give her?
There were six of them, Sam. I chased them off, but I saw seven hor—” His brother cut off when he spotted the woman in Sam’s grasp. Under the faint light of his brother’s lantern, Sam saw a cascade of red hair, an up tilted chin and a sprinkle of cinnamon colored freckles across a pert nose. Between the alabaster skin and the red hair, she was a picture.

He barely took notice of the gingham shirt with its rolled up sleeves and haphazard buttons which opened at the throat and dipped invitingly down to flesh a lady should never be revealing or the tight breeches that hugged her slender shape. A boy’s clothes should not look so fine on a woman.

But her curves made them more attractive than Miss Pontfour’s dancing girls in their silks and feathers.

“Ma’am.” Kid doffed his Stetson and tucked it against his buckskin shirt.

“She’s not a ma’am.” Sam growled, irritated at the lascivious direction of his brother’s gaze and the fact that he shared the sentiment. “Roust some of the boys together and follow the horses. Wake Mr. Reynolds up. We’ll need to know how much is missing.

A sexy western where the rules of physic don’t apply!

Set in the old west where men are men and women are in a less favorable position comes a romance with a paranormal twist, werewolves, fire starters, psychics and cowboys how can you ask for more? Well you don’t, because this books great!

You easily slip into the roll of the story, and find it hard to stop reading, especially when things spice up with Scarlett and Sam. With thread approaching Horado in the aftermath of Scarlett's capture it’s up to the Kane family to protect it, and the Kane brothers are nothing if not honorable.

I loved Sam, loved his struggle to set his emotions about Scarlett right, he tries so hard to be rude and indifferent but his walls keep cracking showing he wants so much more from her. Scarlett is a great heroine, strong willed during the time of timid women, and not to mention powerful if she could control her power. The Kane brothers were such a pleasure to read, they are though, playful in the hot brotherly way.

I truly liked this story, it had that western feel to it with sexy cowboys and one hot marshal and great supporting cast of brothers on both sides of the couple! This is definitely one of my favorite western romances I’ve read in ages!

If you like your men little rough around the edges, honest and handsome - with handsome brothers! -  and your stories with a paranormal twist then this book is for you! Don’t miss these men of the old west!
