"Kira McCoy wants to die. Losing her husband and daughter tragically left her without hope. Now her disturbed brother-in-law will stop at nothing to have her for himself. All she wants is to find peace, but instead finds herself on top of a bridge ready to end her suffering.
Protector of the Poryria, Trace Stuart is called to defend his race or embrace death. Defending humans is not part of the plan, but he cannot stop himself from saving Kira.
Realizing that he shares a special bond with Kira, Trace defies his Queen and rushes into the heart of darkness in order to rescue the woman he loves. Will Kira be able to reach past her own pain to pull them both into the light?" ~Goodreads
Not An Angel begun really good, the story was fast pace and Trace rescuing Kira from the water kicked things off. Kira's brother in law stalking and threatening her in the hospital kept the momentum up, I love a good stalker story it creates great chemistry between the heroine and the alpha male who won have anyone touch his woman, you know what I'm talking about, right? ;) Trace having to tell her what he is creates delicious drama, as Kira doesn't exactly take it well. The book is very nice in moving along and keeping the reader glued to the book.
The characters are interesting, I really enjoyed Kira, she's depressed and harassed and finally figures out her brother-in-law has been drugging her to get "custody" of her to do with her whatever he wants. Kira is strong even though she grieves for her dead husband and daughter and escapes her fate with Jeff only to run into a man she though only exsisted in her dreams. Trace is drawn to her sorrow and her troubles and it's truly sweet how he tries to help her move on while protecting her from rouge vampires and the Queen of the Poryria ( the good vampires ).
What would have made this book great to me is if the foreign names would have been easier, these didn't flow from your tongue which made the reading experience glitch at times because you had to look at the foreign words again to see just how they were pronounced.
You'll love this if... you love paranormal romance, vampires, obsessive stalkers and love against all odds.
